The iPhone, earning a nomination as the "best gadget" of 2007, can at least lay claim to being one of the coolest gadgets in the world that came out this year. 8gb of storage space, wifi capabilities, and some pretty nifty third party applications makes it a pretty great gadget. And if you were (for some reason) wanting to get more, well there are ways to unlock iPhone. But why would you really need to unlock your iPhone? Presently the iPhone can't be used with any carrier except AT&T, so you would have to unlock it first, in order to use it with your favorite GSM provider.
However, I would urge caution when trying to unlock an iPhone, because you could break it and make it unusable, therefore avoiding the warranty--which could be a good reason to buy it unlocked in the first place.
Of course there are some other advantages to owning an unlocked iPhone. For instance, when the iPhone is unlocked, you have the ability to easily download wallpapers and ringtones for unlocked iPhone. And because you can't easily (it's difficult but not impossible) set your favorite music as your ringtone, it limits your choices. At least, that's one of the iPhone complaints. Forgiving that the iPhone doesn't have a removable battery, and it doesn't come with games, it's still going to be very high on people's Christmas wish lists, because it's an all-in-one gadget, that includes a two megapixel camera, a music and video player, and it comes with the Safari Internet browser for websurfing and has support for the very popular YouTube. |
